Golden Artist Colors, Inc. Free Acrylic Painting Lecture  w/ Phil Garrett

Saturday, December 2, 1-3pm  FREE

The Golden lecture/demo is a two-hour free educational presentation that covers Williamsburg Oils , the New Watercolor QOR and presents in depth , the acrylic paints, gels and mediums that Golden has been well known for since it started making paint in the 1980 ‘s.  It covers information about the different types of pigments, different viscosities and types of paints, grounds and color mixing. Various gels and mediums are demonstrated. You will learn how to extend paint to save money, and how to mix paints with gels to create unique textural surfaces. Learn how to use different products to make surfaces for watercolors, graphite, charcoal, colored pencil, oil and soft pastels. Techniques for the use of iridescent and metallic paints will be shown. The lecture covers the lightfastness of pigments, proper acrylic priming techniques, digital mixed media applications , correct varnishing tips and health and safety concerns.

A packet of literature and free samples of paint and gels will be available for all those who attend

 Living Lines in Fall Botanicals   w/ Lisa Coddington

10:00am -3:00pm

Keep expanding your drawing and color knowledge as autumn brings inspiring subjects to draw and paint. This workshop supports your personal goals whether its drawing, painting or both.
Drawing and color charts get you started before painting your autumn subjects.
Try out color glazing as applied in your color exercise that match your subject, or create your own Fall leaves while you discover how layers of colors acheive a soft glow.
Beginner and experienced welcome.

Thursday, December 14 - Every 2nd Thursday of the month, 10am – 12 & 1:30-4 pm, upstairs at Leyba & Ingalls ARTS. Participants should bring their paints and subject matter, and be prepared to work.  Includes demos, instruction, and critiques.

Fee:$60.00 for materials separate. Must pre-register!

We were going to do a Paint Party with Diane Kleiss but has proved to be too challenging to do encaustic with a large group. If you are interested in encaustic, I encourage you to get in touch with Diane to take a class or two.
